Potty Training!!

There are a lot of things I love about motherhood.  In fact, I have always wanted to be a mom.  I dreamed of hair bows and pretty dresses.  Taking my boys to baseball games and cheering for them as they run the bases.  However,  the dream never included Potty Training!! I think potty training  has to be one of the most frustrating, tiring, messiest jobs a mom has to do.  I would take a sick baby with ear infections over potty training.  At least I know the baby is going to get better, but no one knows how long it will be until the potty training is better!

There is  a lot of advice out there about how to potty train your child.   Some people claim they can get your child potty trained in just 3 days.  Just send them $19.95 and they will send you a video and complete instructions.  As if you can train anyone to do anything in 3 days!  Some use stickers and charts and are very structured. Some sing songs about going potty, or check out books and videos.  I bought an Elmo video, wasn't effective.   I think, for the most part,  I am winging it!  Or at least I thought I had a strategy. I executed the plan, held strong, and I was shot down by a three year old! Every day my plan changes a little to keep him motivated.  We are now going on day 5 (glad I didn't send for the three day plan!) and things are looking up.  For every two successes we have one accident.  Not accident free yet but looking forward to that day!!
