So I got this email the other day about mother's day and it was a bunch of thoughts by Marjorie Pay Hinckley. I loved reading every one of her inspirational thoughts on being a mom. This one I loved the best (I think my sister posted this on her blog, but that's ok we are of one mind!) and I wanted to share on this great day to celebrate Motherhood! I have been lucky to have grandmother's, Aunts, Young Women leaders, Bishop's Wives, Cousins, friends, Sister-in-laws, mother-in-law, My sister, and my own mom who exemplify this quote. I thank them for their examples to be a better person and mother. For me personally, Mother's Day is a day I reflect on how I am doing as a mother and what can I do better. This quote is the kind of person/mother I want to be. Happy Mother's Day...
"I don't want to drive up to the pearly gates in a shiny sports car, wearing beautifully, tailored clothes, my hair expertly coiffed, and with long, perfectly manicured fingernails.
I want to drive up in a station wagon that has mud on the wheels from taking kids to scout camp.
I want to be there with a smudge of peanut butter on my shirt from making sandwiches for a sick neighbors children.
I want to be there with a little dirt under my fingernails from helping to weed someone's garden.
I want to be there with children's sticky kisses on my cheeks and the tears of a friend on my shoulder.
I want the Lord to know I was really here and that I really lived."
