Yesterday was Grant's birthday. He is six years old and I can't believe it. He said to me last night, "Mom, I don't feel six years old." And I asked him what he thought that would feel like and he said, "Maybe I weigh more." So he asked me how much he weighed when he was five. I guessed low and said 50 lbs. He went and stood on the scale and it read 50.4 lbs. I said look you are a little bigger, trying to be encouraging! He said, "I just don't feel six." I said well, I don't feel 33 either. He just laughed.
Grant is a great kid and he tries hard to be a good kid. Most people don't realize this but he has a tender heart and he hates to get in trouble. His big gruff personality and his ruff and tumble play would make you think otherwise. Grant is also a smart kid and loves math. He loves to add and subtract numbers and has been subtracting the numbers until his birthday and Christmas all month long. Grant keeps us laughing he is always coming up with some idea or thought that is just too funny. My favorite is asking Grant if he wanted to be a member of the choir Isabelle was in. He looked at me and said, "Would I have to sing?" yes, grant. "Then no." He has also decided he is Cooper's teacher and he is going to teach Cooper everything he knows. He is pretty good too, he doesn't leave anything out!
We love Grant and we are lucky to have him in our family. I am glad he doesn't feel six yet. I would like him to stay five for a long time!!
